As-builts & field measure
A field measure so the next piece fits. An as-built so the record matches what was installed.
During construction and renovation, someone has to measure the space at the right points in the schedule. That measure keeps stairs, rails, embeds, and equipment from fighting the opening that is actually there.
As-builts are different. They are a revised set after the work — record drawings that show the dimensions, geometry, and location of what was completed under the contract. Also called record drawings.
Field scanning is a measurement method, not an as-built by itself. If you need a point cloud or a model, that is scan-to-BIM.
